Jake & Amos is introducing our New "All Natural" label to enable our customers to easily recognize our "All Natural" products!

"What is All Natural?

Due to the great customer interest and consumer demand, as well as the lack of an “official national” definition for the term “All Natural”, Jake & Amos would like to submit the following as our guidelines for manufacturing products that are “All Natural”:

• Ingredients minimally processed (closer to their natural state).
• For example:
   - Corn Starch is natural; Modified Food Starch is not.
   - Evaporated Cane Juice is natural; High Fructose Corn Syrup is not.
• No Artificial Colorings.
• No Hydrogenated Oils.
• No Artificial Flavorings.
• No Artificial or Chemical preservatives.
• If we are in doubt about any ingredient’s “naturalness” we check if an Organic counterpart is available, as Organic products, by nature, are All Natural.

According to recent studies, "all-natural" is reported as being the most frequent "positive" new product category. In 2004, the National Marketing Institute reported that 63 percent of consumers have a preference for natural foods and beverages. And food sales in natural product stores reached a reported $11.4 billion in 2003. According to the Iowa State University Agricultural Marketing Resource Center, "the combination natural/organic food category has grown significantly since 1990, increasing four-fold in the decade after and averaging 14 percent annual growth (compared to historic growth rate of 4 percent in the overall food industry)."

In 1993, the FDA said it had not included a definition of the term in its Nutrition Labeling and Education Act (NLEA) "because of resource limitations and other agency priorities" and has not made any changes to date.
