New England Steak Sandwich

Description:

A bold twist on the classic steak and cheese, this sandwich is packed with flavors including shaved steak, sauteed onions, bell peppers and mushrooms along with crisy salami slices for extra zest, then layered with melted provolone cheese and topped with our Jake & Amos Hot & Sweet Pepper Relish for a perfect balance of heat and sweetness.

Ingredients:

4 ounces Jake & Amos Hot & Sweet Pepper Relish

1 pound shaved steak meat

10-12 slices salami, sliced into strips

1 sweet onion, sliced thin

1 red bell pepper, sliced thin

8 ounces mushrooms, sliced

2 tablespoons butter

1-2 tablespoons oil

6 slices provolone cheese

4 tablespoons mayonnaise

4 sub/hoagie rolls (like Amoroso's)

1 pinch salt & black pepper

Directions:

1. In a large skillet, medium-high heat and add butter and olive oil to the pan.

2. Add steak, peppers and onions, cooking until soft and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper.

3. Add slices of salami, dauteing salami until heated through. Remove from heat and cover. Adding additional seasoning if needed.

4. Heat griddle to medium-high heat and spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the halves of of rolls. Grill until golden and crispy.

5. Using a slotted spoon, scoop a heaping sandwhich serving of the steak mixture placing on the griddle, warming quickly and place provolone slices over the top to melt.

6. Using a large spatula, scoop the mixture from griddle and place on the toasted hoagie roll.

7. Top each sandwich with 2 tablespoons of Jake & Amos Hot & Sweet Pepper Relish. Serve immediately for the best flavor.
